Black Panther 2 & Black Adam Unlikely To Release In China

Marvel and DC will reportedly miss out on releasing Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Black Adam in China. According to a new report from THR, there is an expectation that Black Panther 2 and Black Adam will not release in China. There is not expected to be a formal announcement about Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Black Adam not releasing in China, but THR's sources in the Chinese industry believe there is "Little chance of winning approval at this stage." Marvel's Phase 3 movies made nearly $200M in China on average and no film failed to make less than $100M. While it is unknown if that momentum would have stayed with Phase 4's films if they were released there, Black Panther 2's box office potential takes a hit. Black Adam not releasing in China is also going to negatively impact the film's box office haul, possibly in a major way. Not having China's box office is more likely to hurt Black Adam than Black Panther 2, as the latter is projected to do much better around the world even without China. Even with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's opening weekend potentially outearning Black Adam's current box office haul, both films could have benefited greatly from releasing in China.
