In World's Largest Disinformation Campaign Online, China Is Harassing Americans

Is it more effective to take down rings of liars, or would it be more cost effective to open the aperture of discussion so a similarly sized army is arguing the liars to death? It should be a natural strength of liberal democracies to discuss with liars to the point where they're not an issue. I'm not a fan of communist dictatorships and I think the best way to combat them is to let them talk themselves into a corner as they lose favor through debate!
